There are several different types of investment properties. They vary in both risk and return. We still maintain that new investors should stick with smaller, manageable real estate, but we also hope you will enjoy that enough to keep growing.
1. Retail property
Freestanding buildings and traditional shopping centers, from strip malls to supermalls.
2. Offices
Office properties range from 1-2 tenants to highrise complexes to office parks. They can be all the way downtown or in a suburban setting.
3. Apartments
Multi-family housing is a popular type of investment. You can find something that is 2-6 units to a highrise complex.
4. Mixed Developments
Increasing in popularity, these combine different types of property uses: residential, office space and retail.
5. Hotels/Motels
This is a very specialized type of property. The failure rate is quite high; they require expert management. They can be a great investment if they are located in the right place and managed professionally.
